Baylor athletics director and College Football Playoff committee chair Mack Rhoades is on leave from both roles, according to ESPN's Heather Dinich.

Rich Clark, the executive director of the CFP, told ESPN that Rhoades was stepping down from his role as committee chair for "personal reasons." Per Dinich, Baylor also received allegations against Rhoades on Monday. While Rhoades told ESPN his decision to step away from his athletics director role was initiated by him, he did not divulge any details.

According to Baylor, the allegations it received regarding Rhoades "do not involve Title IX, student welfare or NCAA rules and do not involve the football program." This seems to be a separate incident from the one that was investigated in September, when he got into an altercation with tight end Michael Trigg over the color of shirt he was wearing for a game.

Rhoades has served as Baylor's athletics director since 2016, previously holding the same roles at Missouri, Houston and Akron.

Jovan Overshown and Cody Hall will serve as interim co-athletics directors at Baylor, and Rhoades' replacement as CFP chair is yet to be determined. Per Dinich, the committee has nominated Arkansas athletics director Hunter Yurachek to take over as chair and has also nominated Utah athletics director Mark Harlan to take Rhoades' role on the committee.

The decision comes less than a month before the committee will be tasked with determining the final CFP rankings and the 12-team playoff field.
