FLAGSTAFF, AZ (AP/AZFamily) ― A Flagstaff family is suing the makers of ByHeart baby formula after their daughter was sickened in an infantile botulism outbreak at the midst of a nationwide recall .
Symptoms escalate to hospitalization
Stephen and Yurany Dexter, of Flagstaff, said their 4-month-old daughter Rose had to be flown by air ambulance to a children’s hospital two hours from home and treated for several weeks this summer.
In Rose Dexter’s case, she received ByHeart formula within days of her birth in July after breast milk was insufficient, according to her family. The lawsuit states that the Dexters went to Whole Foods and chose ByHeart because “of the healthy-looking labeling, top shelf placement, and higher price.”
