Jefferson Parish deputies, responding to Harvey burglary, find man dead with gunshot wounds

Jefferson Parish deputies responding to a report of a break-in at a Harvey home discovered a man dead with gunshot wounds there on Thursday morning.

Authorities have not identified the victim who was a resident of the apartment located in the 4200 block of Lac Couture Drive , said Capt. Jason Rivarde, spokesperson for the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were dispatched to the scene just after 10 a.m. when another resident, an adult male, called 911 to report a burglary, Rivarde said.

The caller met authorities when they arrived and directed them to the victim, who was unresponsive. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Rivarde said.

Investigators have no suspects or a motive for the killing.
