Strikes are planned at some Starbucks locations in Washington state and across the country on Thursday, Nov. 13, coinciding with the coffee chain's popular Red Cup Day .

The round of " Red Cup Rebellion " demonstrations at certain stores in 41 cities comes as unionized baristas and Starbucks have yet to reach a contract agreement, USA TODAY reported. Starbucks Workers United, which represents some of the chain's workers, previously signaled that strikes would begin on Red Cup Day if an agreement had not been reached, the paper reported.

Red Cup Day is Starbucks' annual event where customers are offered a free, reusable red cup with a qualifying drink order.
