A Miami man who traveled to Maryland and killed his ex-wife and her current boyfriend during a domestic dispute has been indicted, federal authorities announced.
David Turner, 35, is facing serious charges in connection with the double murder of his former spouse, Crimea Baker, and Arlington native Sean Lange in New Market last year.
Turner was arrested in September 2024 in Frederick County.
According to investigators, Baker was a mother of four, and Turner was the father of one of the children.
The arrest was made late in the afternoon on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, by members of the FBI and Fort Lauderdale Police Department with assistance from the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office.
First responders were called at around 7 a.m. on Aug. 25, 2024, to a home in the 7000 block of Mangalong Court in New Market, where they found 33-year-old local resident Baker and Lange, 34, suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Four children inside the residence at the time of the shooting were unharmed.
It is believed they were shot at approximately 1:30 a.m. on the morning of the murders.
Investigators say that they believe the victims were living together at the time of the double murder. Baker is the mother of all four children, and Lange is the father of one.
“This was a heinous, targeted double murder, a crime of rage and anger," Frederick County Sheriff Chuck Jenkins said at the time. "This is the type of crime that shocks the conscience of Frederick County residents.
"There is absolutely no reason to believe there is any risk or threat to the local public at large.
"I can assure the public that every available investigator and agency resource will be brought to bear in this case until the person(s) responsible are identified, arrested, and brought to justice."
On Thursday, Nov. 13, a federal grand jury indicted Turner, charging him with interstate travel to commit domestic violence resulting in death and use of a firearm during a crime of violence resulting in death.
"As alleged in the indictment, Turner traveled to Maryland from another state to kill his former spouse, Crimea Baker," DOJ officials announced. "During and in relation to that offense, Turner shot and killed both Ms. Baker and a second victim, Sean Lange."
It remains under investigation.
