Magnifying glasses were available at Mainstreet Galleries in Kingston on a recent Sunday afternoon, where dozens of art lovers and artists mingled during the opening reception for the Cider Painters of America annual exhibit.
And while most people seemed to be using their unassisted eyes to admire some 300 pieces of miniature art that hung on the walls, the magnifying glasses could be useful when examining such details as leaves on trees or whiskers on kittens.
That’s because The Cider Painters limit their artwork to 3 x 5 inches, or smaller.
“Going from 3 feet to 3 inches is difficult,” said artist Frank Kluk of Wilkes-Barre Township, who was happy not only that one of his miniatures won a prize but that he had sold a piece. How did he feel?
“Inspired!” he said with a grin.
