EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A Lansing man who was shot by police outside the Meijer store in East Lansing in 2022 has been sentenced to prison, ending a long, convoluted legal battle.
DeAnthony VanAtten, 23, was sentenced Wednesday to between 70 months (just under six years) and 10 years in prison, with credit for 255 days already served.
VanAtten pled guilty to the following charges, stemming from the incident outside of the East Lansing Meijer and a separate domestic violence case.
Assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault)
Interfering with electronic communication
Domestic assault and battery
Interfering with a crime report (threatening to kill or injure)
Carrying a concealed weapon
Resisting and obstructing police
Felony firearm.
VanAtten’s sentencing marks the end
