Hundreds of Maricopa Unified students could move to the district’s first K–8 campus in July 2026 under a proposed boundary plan that would redraw elementary and middle school lines to balance enrollment and prepare for growth.

The proposal, outlined at Wednesday’s governing board meeting, would create a new attendance zone for the yet-to-be-named K–8 school while adjusting boundaries for Santa Cruz, Saddleback, Pima Butte, Butterfield, Desert Wind and Maricopa Wells.

The district’s superintendent boundary committee has spent months refining the plan.
