A top Henrico administrator has been tapped as the county’s next economic development director.
Cari Tretina, currently a deputy county manager and Henrico’s chief of staff, was named executive director of the Henrico Economic Development Authority following a closed meeting Wednesday of the EDA board of directors.
Tretina will start in the role Jan. 1 and succeed current director Anthony Romanello, who submitted his resignation in August and will step down from the post in mid-January.
The board selected Tretina over other candidates who applied for the position through a national search, said County Manager John Vithoulkas. He said Tretina, who has worked at Henrico since 2013, applied for the position and wasn’t asked to do so.
