Progressive Conservative MLA for Turtle Mountain, Doyle Piwniuk, will not have his name on the voter's ballot come the provincial election in 2027.
Piwniuk shared on Wednesday that he wishes to spend more time with his family and he's ready to turn the page to a new chapter titled 'semi-retirement'.
Stepping Back to Focus on Family and Semi-Retirement
"The fact is when you're doing this role, you're away from your family a lot," he explains. "My wife was really busy working with Shared Health with her position, and she's just retired, and the fact is I want to spend more time with my family."
When the NDP won the last election, Piwniuk wanted to help his new colleagues in the Legislative Assembly as many of them were new to their roles as MLA's and Ministers of the many departments.
