Chatham-Kent council will consider the purchase of another former school property for potential housing.
A staff report slated for Monday will recommend the purchase of 426 Lacroix St., formerly St. Ursula school, from the St. Clair Catholic district school board for approximately $1.7 million.

If approved, the cost would be funded from the affordable housing reserve through money from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp.’s housing accelerator fund.
A demolition tender would be issued to take down the building, prepare the site for future developments, and eliminate risks and operating costs of maintaining the existing structure.
