MARION COUNTY, Fla. – The former Marion County deputy who fatally shot his girlfriend while they were allegedly cleaning guns last year has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Leslie Boileau, 33, was convicted of manslaughter in October and was sentenced Friday in Marion County court, records show.

Boileau told Ocala police that he and his girlfriend had just returned from dinner on Sept. 19, 2024, when she allegedly asked him to show her how to use guns.

“She was like, I want you to teach me how to use them, I want you to teach me how to use them, Ok we will, we will, we will. We were pointing them at each other, and the gun went off,” Boileau told police, according to the probable cause affidavit (sic).
