A proposal to turn the former Fox Ridge property into a housing hub for the homeless is moving forward.
Plans to put an emergency shelter, transitional supportive housing and permanent affordable housing on the property at 389 West St. has been recommended for approval by the Brantford and Brant social services committee. The proposal will now be brought before city and county councils for approval.

“I’m pleased to see this come forward,” Brantford city councillor Mandy Samwell said. “This is going to fill a need in our community and give us the opportunity to serve families and individuals who don’t fit within our current shelter system.”
The Ward 5 councillor said those utilizing the shelter system will also be able to get the wraparound services they need.
