The Shoebox Project has taken over Cyndi Rayson’s basement again.
Rayson, a 15-year-old Grade 10 student at Sarnia’s St. Patrick’s secondary school, has followed in the footsteps of her older sister, Annabelle Rayson, in recent years to take the lead in collecting donations and assembling 300 shoeboxes packed with gifts for women impacted by homelessness or domestic violence.

Annabelle learned about the Shoebox Project while in Grade 8 and serving as a student page at the Ontario legislature, where she met MPP Caroline Mulroney, a project founder.
It inspired her to launch the Shoebox Project in Sarnia about seven years ago, with help from Cyndi and their mother, Stephanie Lobsinger. “I’ve been wrapping boxes since I was eight years old,” Cyndi said.
