The GHSA state football playoffs kick off today with first-round games after a bye week that followed the final week of the regular season.
There are nine Savannah area teams in the GHSA playoffs, with seven playing Friday, Nov. 14. Calvary Day and Savannah Christian have byes in the first round of the Class A-3A Private School bracket.
In SCISA playoff action, Bethesda Academy is trying to punch its ticket to the Class 2A championship game for the third year in a row as the Blazers host Greenwood Christian in a semifinal matchup.
Benedictine is set to host East Forsyth at Memorial Stadium in a GHSA Class 4A matchup , while Jenkins hosts Whitewater at Groves Stadium in 3A action and Effingham County hosts Clarke Central in a 5A first-round matchup.
