Aaliyah Chavez's start to her Oklahoma women's basketball career has been what everyone expected, and likely more.

During the Sooners ' 89-61 victory over North Alabama on Friday, Nov. 14, Chavez got the attention of an arena full of elementary school students, and social media. Her 45-footer just before the halftime buzzer went through the hoop cleanly for a 3-pointer and a 57-33 lead at the break.
Chavez, the Gatorade National Player of the Year for 2025 out of Lubbock Monterey High School, has lived up to the hype of her national recruiting buzz. Through four games, she leads Oklahoma in minutes played, points and 3-pointers made, with a 2.5-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
