Police say they identified the body of a woman who was found on the Lake Michigan shoreline near New Buffalo, Michigan in 1988.

The woman was previously known as "New Buffalo Jane Doe" for decades, as her body could not be identified "despite extensive investigative efforts at the time," according to a Nov. 12 press release from the Michigan State Police.

Glanton was reported missing after leaving her Chicago home on December 9, 1987, and her remains were discovered on April 8, 1988.
