You can no longer get a meal at Rockafeller’s, but you can get a piece of the beloved Virginia Beach restaurant.
Loved by locals and tourists, Rockafeller’s closed Nov. 2 after serving its last meal. Owner Elizabeth “BJ” Baumann decided it’s time for retirement.
Almost everything within the multistory building — a fixture on Mediterranean Avenue at Rudee Inlet for the past 35 years — is up for auction.
Nearly 1,000 items are up for grabs, auctioneer Tucker Freeman said, and the first item to be sold is the blue mosaic-tiled dolphin that graced the entrance to the restaurant’s parking lot for decades.
The statue, called Mr. B., was commissioned by Baumann in memory of her late husband, and 100% of the proceeds from that will go to the Virginia Beach Rescue Squad. Freeman said he is no
