Bloomington South football is out for a rare regional three-peat tonight when it takes on Floyd Central at 7 p.m.
The Panthers last won back-to-back-to-back titles in 1997-99. Floyd Central has never won one after any of its four sectional titles, the last coming in 2019 when the Highlanders fell to the Panthers, 40-14 . South pitched a second-half shutout after trailing 14-13 that night.
Both teams come in at 10-1 with powerhouse offenses: South is averaging 40.5 points and 420 yards per game and the Highlanders 43.2 points and 435. Will it be another shootout for South? Which defense will rise to the occasion?
Other Class 5A regional games to keep an eye on: No. 1 New Palestine (11-0) at No. 8 East Central (9-2), South travels to the winner if it prevails. Up north, No. 4 Lafayet
