JACKSON, Mich. (WILX) - With Michigan’s firearm deer season opening on Saturday, hunting stores across the state are seeing a surge of customers making final preparations.

“Everyone’s trying to site in, get everything ready,” Gillow said. “We’ve got a lot of new hunters coming in, so they’re picking up some new deer rifles and stuff, and it’s always exciting to see new folks come into the sport.”
Local hunter Matt DeLong says preparation goes beyond buying gear.
