NORFOLK, Va. — The government shutdown impacted the release of the jobs report from October, which was set to reflect the number of federal workers who opted to take an offer by President Trump to resign from their jobs.

Dr. Bob McNab from Old Dominion University said the report we’ll get will have smatterings of that data, but it will also be wrapped up with the number of people who were laid off during the government shutdown.

“It’s going to be a confusing picture of a slowing economy with persistently high prices,” McNab said.

McNab said we’re starting to get a better picture of data from November, after a Virginia Works report said, in the week ending November 8, weekly claims of unemployment insurance were up over 6% compared to the week before.
