CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - An ex-girlfriend of Terry Connor Jr., one of the defendants on trial for the 2019 murder of Scott Brooks, testified Friday her then-boyfriend texted her from a new number on the day of the killing.
Connor is on trial, along with Steven Staples, in the murder of Brooks outside the Noda restaurant he co-owned with his brother.
Prosecutors showed the jury body-camera footage from a SWAT team in March 2020, arresting Connor outside his then-girlfriend’s Charlotte apartment.
Investigators would later charge Connor and Staples with the double-murder of a Charlotte couple in January 2020 and the Brooks murder.
A crime scene investigator told the jury police found two firearms, including a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson, in a small attic space inside Connor’s ex-girlfriend
