During a visit to De Pere, U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin made another push for lawmakers to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies to prevent health care costs from spiking for Wisconsinites.
Baldwin made a stop in De Pere Nov. 14 to sound the alarm about an expiring federal tax credit that makes Affordable Care Act plans more affordable.
The U.S. government reopened Nov. 12 after the longest government shutdown in history, where the expiring tax credit was at the center of debate. Eight U.S. Senate Democrats won a commitment from Senate Majority Leader John Thune to hold a vote on extending enhanced tax credits, but the measure is unlikely to pass the Senate. House Speaker Mike Johnson of Louisiana has made it clear it's unlikely to even come up for consideration in the House.
