A jury has found the accused in the death of Misha Pavelick guilty of second-degree murder, bringing the four-week trial to a close nearly two decades after the 19-year-old was fatally stabbed at a grad party near Regina Beach in 2006.

The verdict was delivered Friday afternoon in a packed Regina courtroom, where family and friends of Pavelick reacted with tears as the foreperson read the decision. The jury deliberated for nearly two days before reaching a unanimous verdict.

Throughout the trial, jurors heard from witnesses who were at the campground party, first responders, and experts who reviewed the evidence. The case remained unsolved for years until new leads emerged in 2023, leading to the arrest of the accused.
