Construction of a new public library is underway in the Dallas County town of Orrville.
The new building is going up right next door to the town hall on Highway 22.
It’ll be the town’s very first public library. Officials broke ground on the project two years ago back in 2023.
Mayor Louvenia Lumpkin says the whole town is excited to see the construction underway — and about what having a local library will mean for the community.
“The closest library we have is in Selma, fifteen miles up the road,” said Lumpkin.
“And sometimes we have young people that need book reports or want to do an essay. We want art class, we want cooking class. And they get a chance to not only that, the children will be able to come and read a book. That’s the main thing, readi
