NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Thanksgiving shoppers may find relief at the grocery store this year, as traditional holiday meal ingredients have dropped in price despite overall grocery costs rising 2.7% from last year.
Lacie Simmons, who plans to cook Thanksgiving dinner for 12 people, said she has noticed soaring prices in recent months and actively searches for deals.
“Now, I was just thinking, am I getting ready to go in here and buy a chicken, or am I going to be able to afford ham?” Simmons said. “I try to check out the sales and see. I watch the circulars or whatever the store, you know.”
While grocery prices have increased overall, to Wells Fargo Agri-Food Institute the increases are mainly for foods like beef, eggs and coffee. They say ingredients for a typical Thanksgiving menu
