Months after he announced he was leaving his job as CEO of the Montreal Alouettes, Mark Weightman is returning to a role as governor of the Montreal Alliance in the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
The team announced his hiring on Friday , saying it was “a crucial step in the growth of the Montreal Alliance.” The move comes two months after the CEBL team parted ways with president Jo-Annie Charbonneau after a little more than a year in the job, saying it would “proceed with changes to its leadership structure.”
Weightman was CEO of the Alouettes from 2013 to 2016 and then again from 2023 to 2025, but started with the organization in 1996, working in various front-office roles. Between those two stints, he led the Laval Rocket and Trois-Rivières Lions hockey teams. He had originally bee
