A judge ruled on Friday that Brian Walshe, a Massachusetts man accused of killing his wife and dismembering her body, is competent to stand trial after undergoing a medical evaluation.

Walshe spent 40 days at Bridgewater State Hospital, and a report from a doctor concluded that Walshe is “competent and ready to stand trial,” Judge Diane Freniere said during Friday’s hearing.

Walshe’s trial was initially scheduled to begin last month, but Freniere delayed proceedings over concerns about his mental health, Fox News reported.

His trial will now begin on December 1. Walshe is facing multiple charges, including murder and misleading a police investigation. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
