A mother rushed into her blazing home to rescue her son, cats and bearded dragons following an arson attack. Carl Dawe set fire to a caravan outside the property in the early hours whilst drunk and enraged, with flames then engulfing three houses and a vehicle.

This resulted in a woman he was having an affair with sustaining burns to her face, neck and hand, which may leave her permanently scarred. He now claims he "lost the plot" during what was described as a "moment of madness in a meltdown".
