TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - More than 200 students with disabilities from Tuscaloosa County Schools tried their hand at bowling Friday, Nov. 14.
School district leaders said this is the third year they’ve had bowling for student athletes with disabilities.
“This event helps them build confidence, experience some independence. We’re doing a fun leisurely activity and we also have peer partners that participate with them. It’s amazing. They have a great time. In fact, a lot of our athletes look forward to this,” said Tuscaloosa County Schools special education director Pam Stanley.
Stanley said this year’s group is the largest group they’ve had so far. The winners receive a ribbon and receive an invitation to compete on the state level later this year.
