(KRON) — A team of wildlife experts reunited a lost sea otter pup with its mother near Morro Bay on the Central California coast Oct. 20.
The otter pup, named Caterpillar, was found stranded on the Beach in Morrow Bay at 11 a.m., The Marine Mammal Center said. Experts with the MMC, with help from the Morro Bay Harbor Department, rescued the pup and took a recording of its cry in an effort to attract its mother.

“Experts at the Center took a recording of the pup vocalizing to play on a Bluetooth speaker because they anticipated that the pup would soon get too tired and would stop vocalizing — which for a reunification attempt is critical to attract the mother's attention,” the MMC said.
