After announcing a hardline stance on youth crime, a state government is also looking at measures to stop kids getting involved in violent offences and facing adult penalties.

Record youth crime rates and several high-profile attacks have put the Allan government on the back foot throughout 2025, with reforms to bail, machete sales and ankle monitoring devices.
The latest move means children who commit violent crimes will face adult sentences in adult courts, meaning jail time is more likely and sentences will be longer.
