The Hyundai i20 that exploded near the Red Fort on Monday was purchased for Rs 2 lakh from a local car dealer in Faridabad on October 29, The Indian Express has learnt.

The car dealer, Devender Kumar, said he had bought the car for Rs 1.5 lakh from one Spinny in March and later sold it to one Amir Rasheed of Pulwama for Rs 2 lakh in collaboration with Royal Car Zone – a second hand car dealer also located in Faridabad.

“Amir was accompanied by Umar Nabi, whom I recognised after seeing his photographs on television,” said Kumar.

“The car was not in a very good condition. I had to get it repaired and later put it up for sale on OLX . In the meantime, I also sought help from Royal Car Zone, as I knew the dealer, to sell the car,” Devender said.
