CLEVELAND, Ohio – One of two children accused of raping and torturing a 5-year-old autistic girl in Cleveland has been placed in the care of the Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services.
At an emergency hearing Friday morning in Juvenile Court, Judge Kristin Sweeney said she granted the agency custody of the 9-year-old boy after his arraignment Thursday.
At the hearing , the boy, through his attorney, Edward Borkowski, denied the charges, which include attempted murder and rape in the Sept. 13 attack in a field near East 148 th Street. A 10-year-old girl who is also accused in the attack has denied the same charges. Sweeney ordered both children placed on home detention with electronic monitoring.
