SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -A Springfield man will spend life in prison for the 2023 shooting death of an 18-year-old man.
On Friday, Xavier Moore was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for first-degree murder. Moore was also sentenced for one count of first-degree assault, three counts of armed criminal action, one count of shooting a firearm, and one count of unlawful possession.
On April 17, 2023, Lavelle Rose III, 18, from East St. Louis, Ill., was shot and killed while riding in a car at Calhoun Street and Forest Avenue. His grandmother, who was driving the car, was also shot and survived.
The man believed to have driven the getaway vehicle, Justin Bartels, pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence in November 2023. He was given a suspended prison sentence and placed
