WASHINGTON — DC police say an officer who shot and killed a man during an incident in the 4400 block of Reservoir Road, Northwest was defending himself.
According to the police, they responding to a location where two tenants had a longstanding dispute. One of the tenants had filed an order of protection against the man who was shot.
When police arrived at the scene, the suspect lunged at the officer with a screwdriver in one hand and a knife in the other.
They said police at the scene tried to save the man, but he was pronounced deceased.
Neither the man who was shot, nor the officer, have been identified.
They say he'd been arrested the day before. Police were not clear on why he'd been released.
