Ithrew away piles and piles of old sermons yesterday. I don’t know why I was saving them. I guess I thought I might use them someday. The truth is that after nearly fifteen years here in Westerly, they were just taking up space. I’ve only recycled a few of them over the years and they were never as good the second time around.

I confess. I am a saver. I hate to throw anything away. That’s why I have piles of old magazines, notes from conferences, and minutes from meetings in my office. I always think I am going to need them again. The truth is that the only time I look at them is when I am trying to clean up and I have to decide whether to keep them or toss them.

Now don’t get me wrong. I realize that it is important to save some things. The question we need to find an answer for is this
