CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — Two people were arrested in connection to dogfighting on Thursday, Nov. 13 in Chester County, S.C.

Deveko Lavar Kennedy, 35, and Dianna Bowler, 41, were arrested after Chester County Sheriff’s deputies and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) agents searched a residence on Nelson Road.

Kennedy was charged with counts of felony ill treatment of animals, animal fighting, unlawful conduct toward a child and conspiracy for ill treatment of animals and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Bowler was charged with felony counts of unlawful conduct toward a child and conspiracy for ill treatment of animals.

Nine dogs were found on the property. All were found underweight, injured and scarred, according to authorities. The dogs were rescued.
