LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lancaster County Sheriff’s office responded to two different deadly crashes in less than 48 hours that left three people dead. Meaning some of the deputies responded to both tragedies.

“We always check with our people,” Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said. “The sad thing is after you do this job for a few years, you get to investigate a lot of these kinds of things.”

Deputies responded to a crash Wednesday afternoon on Highway 77 where a northbound Ford 2-50 hit a westbound car killing a couple from Firth.

Not long after, Thursday night LSO responded to a crash on Highway 33 where a westbound Ford crossed the center line hitting an eastbound Honda head-on leaving one person dead and another in critical condition.
