A couple and their one-year-old daughter were rescued by a team of first responders in the air and on the ground after the trio became lost in Rouge National Urban Park last weekend.
“Using live aerial views and precise digital co-ordinates, officers were able to reach the family and guide everyone safely out without further incident,” Toronto police said in a news release .
With the help of an OPP helicopter, officers responded to the Steeles Avenue East and Reesor Road area, on the Scarborough/Markham border last Saturday, where the family had become disoriented in thick bush.
Following their distress call, a drone — Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) — began the search for the hikers, police said.
