LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky families can expect to see a full deposit of SNAP benefits as early as Saturday morning.

Gov. Andy Beshear announced Friday afternoon that his administration received permission to fully fund SNAP after the 43-day federal government shutdown temporarily paused the program. He said his team plans to work overnight to ensure EBT cards are full by morning.

Since the federal government reopened on Thursday, many SNAP users had been seeing only a few dollars on their benefits cards instead of their full amount. Lexington Rescue Mission Executive Director Laura Carr said knowing the Governor plans to do what he can to get money back into the hands of people in need makes a big difference.
