MADISON (WKOW) — The City of Madison, in collaboration with the Madison Arts Commission, is celebrating a new addition to its public art collection. A large mosaic titled "Wisconsin Landscape," generously donated by the MacCrimmon family, is now on display.
The "Wisconsin Landscape" mosaic, created by acclaimed Dutch artist Arnold Zweerts in 1977, was purchased by Madison residents Don and Barbara MacCrimmon. The MacCrimmons, lifelong friends of Zweerts, sought to place the mosaic into a public collection in 2022 with the help of mosaic artist and historian Lillian Sizemore.
The Kohler Foundation, Inc. received the mural donation and transferred its ownership to the City of Madison. They also funded the conservation, transportation, and installation costs.
