An active cadre of the ULFA-Independent (ULFA-I) surrendered before security forces during a joint operation in the general area of Noglo village in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district, officials said on Friday.

The operation was conducted by Assam Rifles in close coordination with Tirap Police and Assam Police, following specific intelligence inputs from 4 Det ECIB, further corroborated by technical surveillance by 36 LIC. Acting on the inputs, the joint team launched a swift and synchronised operation that led to the voluntary surrender of SS Pvt Kamal Akhun, alias Vikas Mohanta (23), a member of the banned ULFA-I outfit.
