ALMONT — Throughout the MHSAA state tournament, as the temperature grows colder, the Almont football team only gets hotter.
And the heat wave continued Friday, Nov. 14.
The Raiders rolled past Detroit Edison, 44-8, in a Division 6 regional final at Almont High School.
Junior quarterback Blake Lane threw three touchdown passes for Almont, which improved to 12-0 overall and advanced to next week's state semifinal against Jackson Lumen Christ.
The Pioneers finished the season at 9-3.
Raiders halfback Jacob Stewart opened the scoring on a 74-yard touchdown run just 3:50 into the game. A successful two-point conversion gave Almont an 8-0 edge.
Then, at the 4:22 mark of the first quarter, Lane found Brody Corneau for a 26-yard touchdown
