MIDLAND, MI – Midland Dow sent a little message with its opening drive.

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s spent the rest of the game delivering its emphatic reply.

After surrendering a touchdown on the game’s first possession, defending state champion St. Mary’s rattled off six unanswered touchdowns for a 42-7 victory over host Dow in the Division 2 regional final.

“They were able to get some momentum, but our boys stayed on an even keel,” St. Mary’s coach Jermaine Gonzales said. “They stayed calm. They knew we couldn’t control that, but we could respond to it.

“They dealt with the early adversity really well. They just wanted to go out and make big plays.”
