PIEDMONT — Piedmont’s defense did something that hasn’t been done since Bill Clinton was president Friday.
Cole Austin showed he can get things done, no matter what opponents do to take away record-setting receiver Rollie Pinto.
The second-ranked Bulldogs dealt Fyffe its first shutout since 1999, beating the Red Devils 36-0 in a second-round playoff game on Piedmont’s Field of Champions.
Piedmont (12-0) will play host to Gordo in a Class 3A quarterfinal on Nov. 21. Fyffe finished 8-2.
Piedmont eliminated Fyffe in the quarterfinals last year and in the second round this year, but under third-year head coach Jonathan Miller. He also coached Saks to a 14-7 victory at Fyffe im the 2021 quarterfinals.
