SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WILX) - Freshman Porter Martone posted his first career multi-goal game on Friday night as the Spartans took down Notre Dame, 4-1, from the Compton Family Ice Arena.
“I liked us in the first, we played to our identity,” said Michigan State head coach Adam Nightingale. “In the second they (Notre Dame) pushed and scored on the power play, and it was a tight game going into the third. I thought we showed some poise and Trey (Augustine) made some saves for us. That’s a good team and we have to be ready for tomorrow.”
Michigan State improves to 8-1-0 overall and 3-0-0 in conference action while claiming all three points towards the B1G standings. The Irish drop to 3-7-1 (0-5-0 B1G) ahead of Saturday night’s series finale.
Martone was joined in his multi-point effort by line
