It was a deadly week for South Asia, with the capitals of India and Pakistan being hit by suicide blasts 24 hours apart. Another South Asian country, Bangladesh, also went through a volatile week amid protests against the interim government there. This week saw Russian troops make significant advances in the battle for the city of Pokrovsk in Ukraine. The week was a mixed bag for US President Donald Trump, who managed to end the longest government shutdown in American history, but once again got embroiled in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
