Jack Greenwell scored the winner just 1:37 into overtime as the Steinbach Pistons edged the Swan Valley Stampeders 4–3 on Friday night.
All six regulation goals came in a wild first period. Eric Han opened the scoring only 2:29 in, slipping a shot five-hole on Easton Falls to give Steinbach the early lead.
Swan Valley answered with back-to-back power-play goals just 1:15 apart, as Trace Langan and Darren Hunt put the Stampeders ahead 2–1. The Pistons responded quickly when Evan Gradt buried one to make it 2–2.
The Stampeders regained the lead on their third power-play marker of the period, courtesy of Gavin Bartha, but Steinbach pulled even once more when Marek Miller scored in the final minute to send the game to the first intermission tied 3–3.
