BOISE, Idaho — Editor's Note: Originally, it was Michael Forsyth, the property owner, who was the person speaking before Ada County Commissioners. Although Forsyth did address the council, the person in the video was Nate Castillo, the gun range operator.

Despite dozens of neighborhood complaints about noise and safety, the Ada County Planning and Zoning Commission has approved a special permit for a shooting range on Ourada Ranch Road. The decision follows an Ada County Sheriff’s Office investigation into a range already operating on private property near Cartwright Road.

The property owners were seeking a conditional use permit to continue operating as a commercial range, and that permit was approved Thursday night after four hours of public testimony.
